Whitaker Studio’s Joshua Tree Residence Is an Explosion of Shipping Containers

The desert landscape of Joshua Tree is punctuated with plenty of gorgeous scenery and nature to enjoy, so who wouldn’t want to experience that from the comfort of their own desert flower / starburst shaped container home? What you’re seeing here are only the concept rendering for the dwelling, but this is the general idea behind Whitaker Studio’s Joshua Tree Residence, which is set to begin construction in 2018. The project came about when a film producer client was visiting his plot in Joshua Tree and was shown a picture of Whitaker’s Hechingen Studio, a similar concept for an office space that never quite made it off the ground. One thing led to another, and now there are concept renderings for one of the coolest container houses we’ve ever seen. Inside the shipping container exoskeleton there’s a living room, three en suite bedrooms, dining area and kitchen, all situated with great views of the surrounding terrain.
