Washing your clothes is an expensive, wasteful process regardless of how cheap the coin machines are or how energy efficient your machine is. YiREGO is a Toronto-based household design company focused on environmentally sustainable solutions, and they just provided the solution for smaller, more delicate loads. It’s called Drumi, and it’s a foot-powered washing machine made with up to 40% recycled material. Designed to hold up to 5lbs of clothing (that’s about six t-shirts, or one pair of jeans) per 5 minute cycle (2 for wash and rinse, 1 for spin), Drumi is powered entirely with that foot pedal to turn energy consumption to calories instead of dollars.
