Just shy of a century ago, the US Navy started relying on the accuracy and durability of the Chelsea Clock Company’s mechanical deck lock. Made in the USA by the last remaining manufacturer of the American mechanical clock, mechanical Chelsea Deck Clocks have been used by the Navy, Merchant Marines and even a few other branches of the service to synchronize fleets across the world. Until recently, the only way for civilians to get their hands on them was to be given one or pick one up through the secondhand market, but that’s no longer the case. Built exclusively for Best Made Company by Chelsea Clock Company, this clock has a 5.5″ dial, shatterproof face, precision mechanical movement and a phenolic resin case. This is the clock that saw the invasion of Europe, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and that time the Navy bought ships on stilts.
