We don’t know what those damn monks are doing over in Belgium, but we do know the beer they’re brewing is insanely delicious. And while you can find Chimay, Trappist Rochefort, and others stateside, we haven’t had a Trappist beer to call our own . . . until now. Spencer Trappist Ale, from St. Joseph’s Abbey in Massachusetts, is the first official Trappist beer in the USA. (Some US breweries may already be using the term “Trappist” on their labels, but these are not real Trappist beers brewed in an abbey by Trappist monks.) The golden-hued brew clocks in at 6.5% ABV and will hopefully be available to the public soon. Just keep checking back for the launch of their website.
