Mahmoud Sherif’s ‘The Director’ Is a Brutalist Housing Concept Perched on the Edge of a Cliff

While there are certainly no shortage of brutalist, conceptual architecture pieces we long to visit, few of them call to us like Mahmoud Sherif’s design that’s appropriately titled ‘The Director Will Be Here Shortly.” Visually situated in the volcanic remains of Reyinsfijara, Iceland, this brutalist style weekend retreat doubles as cliffside dwelling and ode to an architectural style the landscape has never known. With concrete construction, an interior space lined with precious metal accents and accents from the natural yet abnormal rock formations–along with impeccably-designed interior spaces, cold Icelandic light and a number of other Sci-Fi movie accouterments–this is the perfect, futuristic dwelling for anyone that wants to live in an architectural temple setting somewhere between the Fifth Element and Blade Runner. This is all assuming, of course, that the property ever gets built. If it does, we’ll be the first to sign up to live in it.
