Before Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Flappy Bird and even Minesweeper, one of the best ways you could kill some time was with Solitaire on your Windows 3.0 computer. The iconic designs of Solitaire that almost of us are familiar with were created by Susan Kare (who just so happens to be one of the original Apple design pioneers), but now those same iconic designs can be laid out on your tabletop instead of just your desktop because Areaware turned them into actual playing cards. You’re not going to get the sweet finishing animation you got in Microsoft’s game unless you throw your cards across the room, but that seems like a small price to pay to be able to use them for poker, gin and hearts.
