Danger Mouse does more collaborations than Akon and Diddy/P. Diddy/Puff Daddy/Swag (really?) combined, but unlike the latter two most of the stuff Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) does kicks ass. The latest offering may be the most out there yet (which is saying a lot if you ever listened to his stuff with Sparklehorse or the Gnarls Barkley tracks that didn’t make the airwaves). Rome is the work of Danger Mouse and Italian composer Daniele Luppi and it’s been a long time coming. Anything that’s five years in the making will either rock or insanely disappoint and like most of the stuff Danger Mouse touches this album achieves the former. The record combines the two musicians love of classic Italian film music (think red wine and handguns) and, along with the help of Jack White and Norah Jones, provides the perfect backdrop for a chill party with lots of Chianti.
