Initially, we thought this was a probing documentary about the dirty underworld of sheep fighting. It’s not, but the real subject is (arguably) more important. Dieter Rams is the legendary designer behind hundreds of products, including coffeemakers, shavers, stereos, alarm clocks and the Vitsoe 606 shelving system. He wrote the Ten Principles for Good Design, rules considered biblical in the design community. Not only is this a Kickstarter for the first feature film about him, but the team behind it also wants to preserve Rams’s design archive, a collection of drawings, photographs, and more from his fifty-year career. You get the film to start and above that you can get posters, exclusive prints, and even a list of Rams’s favorite jazz. It promises to be an in-depth look at one of the more secretive but influential men of the 20th Century, so if design’s a hobby of yours, it’s worth a look.
