Devo Energy Dome Face Shield

We’re willing to bet money that every single one of you reading this remembers at least the chorus of the Devo classic “Whip It.” The iconic and incredibly weird band produced a lot of great tracks over the years, but they’re almost as well known for the peculiar Energy Dome hats they wear all the time. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the album Freedom of Choice and the first appearance of the Energy Dome. Devo is celebrating in a very Devo way–buy selling official Energy Dome hats with face shields. As the band said, “The Dome collects energy that escapes from the crown of the human head and pushes it back into the Medula Oblongata for increased mental energy. It’s very important that you acquire a plastic hard hat liner adjusted to your head size and fix it with duct tape or super glue to the inside of the dump. This allows the Dome to float just about the cranium and thus do its job. Unfortunately sans hard hat liner the recirculation of energy will not occur!” Since the face shield detaches with velcro, the hat could also double as a Halloween costume with just a black turtleneck.
