Academy Award Winner Spike Lee is back with an all new Spike Lee Joint called Da 5 Bloods. It’s about four African American vets battling the forces of both man and nature when they return to Vietnam to find the remains of their fallen squad leader… and the fortune in gold he helped them bury during the war. The plot alone makes us want to watch the film, but the visual style with analog shots for the flashbacks (including some footage from Ken Burn’s documentary The Vietnam War) doesn’t hurt, either. And then there’s the star-studded cast: Delroy Lindo, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock, Jr., Chadwick Boseman and, of all people, Jean Reno (who better be playing a French villain). You don’t even have to wait that long to watch it because Da 5 Bloods premieres on Netflix June 12th.
