Bill Murray, the man/actor/
favorite uncle that shows up at the damnedest times to win over people everywhere, is releasing a classical/spoken word album with famed cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang and Vanessa Perez on the piano. The project, entitled
New Worlds, features Murray singing and
reading selections ranging from
West Side Story and Whitman to Van Morrison and Hemingway while the classical musicians play Schubert, Bach and Piazzola. The idea for the project was born in 2013 when Murray and Vogler were on the same flight from Berlin to New York and quickly struck up a friendship. What was originally billed as Bill Murray, Jan Vogler & Friends evolved into
New Worlds, a classical and spoken word album that will be released in August and a musical stage show that will tour North America, starting at Festival Napa Valley in California near the end of July. It’s Bill Murray, after all, so we can’t imagine not loving every part of this.
