If you didn’t catch the recent news, Joe Whale is a nine-year-old boy from Shrewsbury that, as he says, “absolutely LOVES to doodle!” He loves making monsters come to life and doodling in general, but his passion for drawing got him into a fair bit of trouble when he started scribbling on the class whiteboards. Teachers were enraged. Principals were brought in. The Board of Education was even consulted about how to handle the young, burgeoning artist that was doodling on everything around him. We’re just kidding about most of that. Joe was doodling on everything and it did get him into some trouble during class, but ultimately, it led to another star being born. Now known as “The Doodle Boy,” Joe was invited to decorate the dining room of the “Number 4” restaurant and he has a growing presence on all the social media platforms people care about these days. He’s not on display in MoMA or in books, but we expect that’s all a question of when not if should he continue drawing as he grows up.
