Studio Puisto Niliaitta Cabins

Studio Puisto Niliaitta Cabins

Finnish architecture and design firm Studio Puisto has made a name for themselves over the years with their unique interpretations and visions of modern housing options based on traditional concepts. While there are certainly plenty of great examples that display the brand’s caliber, few compare to the Niliaitta cabins you see here that combine a “traditional type of storage hut or cache built on top of a long stump of a tree or pole in order to prevent animals of getting hold of the contents (typically food or other perishables).” The Studio Puisto version, located in a remote forest in Finland and part of a tourism concept that will see up to 50 cabins constructed, combines a warm, wooden interior with a contrasting, dark, painted exterior that visually separates the entire escape from the surrounding landscape–and that’s before you consider the fact the entire structure is elevated above the landscape like a tree house. If you want a sleek, stylish and minimal escape, you won’t find better than the Studio Puisto Niliaitta Cabins.
