SPIN – A Spinning Flame In A Glass Tube

SPIN – A Spinning Flame In A Glass Tube

If you’re anything like us, you could stare at a fire for hours. There’s just something absolutely mesmerizing about the raw power and force that, even if you don’t get visions like The Hound, demands your attention. Spin is a new project from award-winning German firm höfats that combines a universal love of fire with some interesting design tricks to create a fire tornado in front of your eyes. The sleek design uses a stainless base to house a bioethanol fuel canister to create a tall, spinning flame that is contained by a borosilicate glass sleeve for safety. When assembled together, the guide plates on the base cause air to rotate which is accelerated by the flame itself before being boosted by up to 500% by the chimney effect of the glass tube. We’re not going to pretend to understand the science behind it, but we do know that harnessing the power of a fire tornado for display on your dining room table or deck is pretty damn cool.
