Ireland’s Most Haunted House Is for Sale for Around $3 Million

Located on the Hook Peninsula in Wexford, Ireland, Loftus Hall is a palatial estate with just over 27,000 square feet of space that includes its own private beach, 63 acres of land and more bedrooms, bathrooms and gardens than you could use in the rest of your natural life. Oh yeah, it’s also reportedly the most haunted place in all of Ireland. Purchased and refurbished by Aidan Quigley in 2011, Loftus Hall is “more than a house. It is a business, and we’ve invested so much in the brand, but it also allows people to buy into a part of history,” which is why he’s personally interviewing potential buyers. What makes it so special? For that, we have to travel back to the 1700s. As legend has it, “during a storm at sea, a dark stranger approached the Hall on horseback after his ship was driven into nearby slade Harbour with rough seas. He was invited in to seek shelter and spent some days with the Tottenham Family who were living at the Hall at the time. The young Lady Anne Tottenham was especially taken with this dark stranger and fell head over heels for him. One night during a card game, she dropped a card and upon bending down to retrieve it, she noticed that this dark stranger had cloven hoofs instead of feet. As soon as he realized what she had seen, he shot through the roof in a ball of flames.” There’s more to the story, but since Loftus Hall reopened to the public almost a decade ago, “people claim to have felt and seen things in the Hall that have left them wondering…” That’s good enough for us. We want it.
