Black 3.0 Is the Blackest Acrylic Paint in the World

In case you’re not familiar with the whole artist feud surrounding Vantablack, here’s a quick primer. Vantablack is one of the darkest substances known to man and absorbs up to 99.96% of visible light. Artist Anish Kapoor secured exclusive artistic rights to Vantablack, which pissed off, well, pretty much the entire art community. Enter Stuart Semple, paint maker and champion of the artists everywhere with Black 3.0. Billed as the blackest acrylic paint in the world, Black 3.0 absorbs 98-99% of the visible light spectrum, which makes whatever you brush, spray or roll it on to take on a weird surreal quality that almost makes it disappear in certain circumstances. More importantly, Semple is making Black 3.0 available to everyone (except Anish Kapoor) with a Kickstarter project to raise the funds needed to have it mass produced. We can’t wait until May to get our hands on it because we’re going to paint all of the things.
