Today’s graphic designers have a unique challenge facing them. If they’ve done most of their work on a physical medium, eventually they’re going to have to digitize it. But since digital displays use different measurements than what the designer was probably using on paper, moving work over quickly becomes a math problem. The Lindlund ruler aims to make that process easier. In addition to the standard straight edge functions and centimeter and inch measurements, there’s a window with pica and pixel measurements. These allow the designer to take what they’ve created with inches or centimeters and easily convert it to digital terms. The pixel measurements also include tick marks for common digital device screen sizes, meaning you can easily sketch a small rectangle to accurately represent iPhone or iPad screens and design inside them. It comes in two colors, silver and black, to match your other tools and has a rubber backing to make sure your ruler doesn’t slip while taking measurements. Overall, the Lindlund should make working with both digital and physical designs easier to navigate.
