There are survival versions of just about every product on the market, but there aren’t that many that seamlessly integrate into your kit like these Survival Laces from Wasatch Outdoors. Built from the same 550 paracord that you know and love (that also has plenty of uses in its own right), each pair of laces is also outfitted with an 8lb. test fishing line, 4″ strand of tinder and a 1″ ferrocerium rod (more commonly known as fire steel). In an emergency, cut off the bullet style aglet on the end of the laces to get at your tinder, ferro rod, fishing line or even the nylon pairs inside the cord. When you’re done, seal up the laces with the fire you just created. They could potentially save your life, but starting a fire with your shoelaces is also a surefire way to impress your buddies.
