Independent design studio Black Ember out of San Francisco has been redefining what we consider to be the best commuter bags for men for as long as we can remember. Every single time they release a new bag we laud the fact it has features we never knew we wanted, but then they release another that’s even better than the last. Case in point–the Black Ember Forge 3-Way Pack. It’s a backpack. It’s a messenger. It’s a brief (case). It’s made out of a Microhex, 3-Layer, 900D performance textile that will last a lifetime. It has pockets or sleeves for a laptop and tablet, easy keys, charger and phone access and a hidden strap that expands the entire pack from 20L to 30L so there’s enough room for a pair of shoes, some shirts, a pair of nice jeans and even some toiletries. Even better–as if it could get any better–the backpack straps fold easily into the butterfly pack whenever they’re not in use. We generally shy away from descriptions like “this is the perfect, all day, everyday backpack,” but that’s the best description of the Black Ember Forge Pack.
