Inspired by the art of origami, the team at NOMAD Hammock spent three years designing and developing a unique hammock that converts into a backpack for everyday use. Using a combination of Cordura, body adaptive mesh and nylon materials, NOMAD is a 20L pack with enough room an entire weekend’s worth of essentials. But the coolest feature? It quickly and easily converts into a hammock. At first, the idea might seem crazy because camping hammocks don’t generally take up that much space, and they’re not exactly products you’re going to be using without some planning. But when you really think about, it’s genius because your backpack isn’t doing anything when you’re not using it to carry stuff. The NOMAD Hammock is currently raising money on Kickstarter with an expected delivery date of June if they meet their funding goal.
