Agents of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the WWII intelligence agency that was a precursor to the CIA, had quite a few tools and weapons in their kits, including the lapel knife that was designed to be carried under the collar of the shirt for emergency situations. The HemiSERE Titanium Lapel Knife by Gearward—the same people that designed Keychain Duct Tape—is a modernized version of that blade that’s well designed, easier to carry and more comfortable to use. It’s built with a titanium/ceramic composite out of Japan that keeps the weight down. The Wharncliffe blade profile maximizes cutting performance, and the straight edge exerts tremendous pressure at the tip to ensure a deep cut every time. Rather than using a sheath like the original OSS knife, the HemiSERE relies on “glue dots” to attach the knife directly to the lapel, sleeve, on the back of a credit card or even in your phone case. It’s a pocket knife you can take anywhere… except the airport.
