Web’s Best: Steak Sandwiches

You don’t need to take sides in the Pat’s vs. Geno’s war or know what “wiz wit” means to appreciate a good steak sandwich. In fact, you don’t even have to make anything remotely similar to what you’d get on the streets of Philly. A great steak sandwich is easy to achieve. Get some quality steak, pick up some good rolls and a few toppings and you’ve got a meal. Taking the humble sandwich to another level, however, requires a thought process. Here are the absolute best steak sandwich recipes.

Bourbon Steak Sandwich

Marinate our steak in bourbon? Don’t mind if we do. This sandwich is ultra easy and packed with flavor. With steak, some fire-roasted peppers and a bit of bourbon, we wouldn’t be surprised if you grew a hardy mustache while eating one.  (Recipe)

Cheese Steak Panino

Nobody ever said a steak sandwich had to be on a torpedo roll. For this guy, we’ll break out our panini press and squash some deliciousness between two slices of sourdough bread.  (Recipe)

The Nearly Perfect Sandwich

We’ve been putting fries and potato chips on our sandwiches for eons. Sometimes we just can’t cram food into our fat faces fast enough. This sandwich is like a Denny’s platter on a roll. It’s got steak (obviously), eggs and fries along with a bunch of flavor boosters piled high and awaiting our salivating mouths. (Recipe)

Steak with Caramelized Onion-Jalapeno Sauce

You’re going to want to bottle the sauce in this recipe and use it as your new go-to condiment. It combines the beef’s juices with onions, jalapenos, garlic, heavy cream and more to offer an oozing cheese-like feel to top off your sandwich. It manages the impossible: Making a great steak sandwich that doesn’t require cheese. (Recipe)

The Marlboro Man Sandwich

This sandwich is all about rich, buttery goodness. The steak juices get thickened with it, the buns get covered in it and the onions get fried up in it. Basically, one bite and your insides will be coated in a thin layer of Land O’Lakes. (Recipe)

Kimichi Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

Despite sounding like anime for young girls, Kimichi happens to be a delicious Korean staple. We never thought to add the flavored veggies to our cheesesteak, but they happen to cut nicely through the heaviness of the standard grease-bomb. (Recipe)

Cuban Steak Sandwich

Far from the streets of Philly, there’s another well-known steak sandwich. The Cuban Steak Sandwich is loaded with flavor imparted by a marinade that includes lime juice, garlic, cilantro and other taste-injectors. Save the provolone for another day and devour one of these.  (Recipe)

Bulgogi Cheesesteak Sandwich

The only thing better than eating a Bulgogi Cheesesteak Sandwich is saying the word “bulgogi.” Created in the same city that gave us the Philly Cheesesteak (Philly, though we hope that was obvious), the Bulgogi Cheesesteak Sandwich is exactly what you’d expect, a cheesesteak combined with the Korean beef known as “Bulgogi.” It’s like the two cultures got together and said, “How can we increase our sales in napkins?”  (Recipe)

Flank Steak on Texas Toast with Chimichurri

Even if you’re the kinda guy who needs two full sandwiches to fill you up, you’ll be good to go after one of these jaw-stretching numbers. Anything that is best described as “garlicky” immediately warrants our attention. You should also have enough chimichurri mayo leftover to slather on everything you eat for the next day or two. (Recipe)

The Hangover Breakfast Sandwich

You’ve got two methods of attacking a hangover, either start drinking or start eating some greasy goodness. For the times when a Bloody Mary is uncalled for (work days), break out some steak and eggs and feed your gut The Hangover Breakfast Sandwich. It’s a breakfast steak sandwich on a pretzel roll that will deliciously soak up last night’s alcohol. (Recipe)
