The Macallan Fine & Rare 1993 Edition

The Macallan Fine & Rare 1993 Edition

There’s good Scotch, great Scotch, and then the kind you just might kill for. The Macallan Fine & Rare Collection dates all the way back to 1926 and consists of 56 vintages from eight decades. Each version comes from a single cask and regularly ranks among the best and most valuable whiskies in the world. For its 57th vintage, the distillery did something special. The 1993 has been aged in a single sherry-seasoned American oak hogshead cask for some 27 years. The 50.2% ABV 1993 imparts nose notes of vanilla fudge, citrus, red cherry, plum, and peach. The complex palate delivers an initial sweet oak and rich dark chocolate; mid-palate woody spices, licorice, and mint; and a finish of ginger and chocolate. You can buy a bottle for a mere $18,000 (instead of that Honda Fit you were eyeing), but the stock is limited to 256 bottles. Get on it.
