Roe & Co Coffee Stout Cask Finish Was Aged in Guinness Beer Barrels

Irish distillery Roe & Co has once again teamed up with Guinness Brewery for a unique collaboration blending the worlds of whiskey and beer. Roe & Co Coffee Stout Cask Finish is part of the distillery’s small batch Cask & Keg series which sees them age their whiskey in beer barrels. In the past, they’ve used Guinness’ Antwerpen Stout and Citra IPA. This time, Roe & Co have gone across the street to their neighbors at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery and sourced casks that previously held Guinness Open Gate Brewery’s Coffee Stout.

The whiskey is bottled at 46 percent ABV and is non-chill filtered. The Coffee Stout Cask Finish offers notes of vanilla, caramel, ginger, and, of course, freshly ground coffee. Bottles of the limited release aren’t currently available in the states but it might be worth taking a trip just to get a sample of this exquisite offering.
