NikeLab Cortez 72 Revives a Vintage Sneaker

NikeLab Cortez 72 Revives a Vintage Sneaker

Designed by Nike co-founder and Olympic-class track coach Bill Bowman, the Nike Cortez was the first track shoe the brand ever created. Originally released during the 1972 Olympics, the Cortez is thought to be a significant part of Nike’s success. Thanks to the folks at NikeLab, the Cortez has been revived as the Cortez 72. This release keeps the vintage styling of the original while modernizing the two-tone wedge midsole with updated cushioning. A textured toe bumper, full-grain leather upper, fold-down leather heel tab and translucent tongue fabric round out the little details on one of the most classic sneakers Nike has released in a while.
