Nike “Moon Shoes” up for Auction

There’s no denying the fact that some of the most rare, sought after and stylish sneakers that have ever been made have had the Nike Swoosh on the side. None of the Jordans, Kobes, and other modern kicks can hold a candle to the Nike “Moon Shoe.” Originally produced in the 70s by Bill Bowerman himself for the Olympic Trials, the Nike “Moon Shoe” was designed to be similar to the footprints left by astronauts during the Apollo missions and was one of the first shoes to feature what would become the iconic waffle sole. Only twelve pairs of the sneakers were ever made, and this is one of them. Bidding for these Nike “Moon Shoes” is set to begin on December 7th through the Goldin Auction’s website with a starting bid of $100,000. If these shoes prove to be as popular as the pair that sold earlier this year, expect the gavel to drop around half a million bucks. The auction lot also includes an original “OREGON”-emblazoned running jersey from the early 70s.
