Alex Mill was launched a handful of years ago with the single-minded, yet lofty, goal of perfecting the tee. The brand delivered while also developing a following of guys, and gals, that wanted well made clothing that was timeless, not trendy. Fast forward a few years, and the brand has relaunched with former J.Crew (and Madewell) design director Somsack Sikhounmuong helping craft a collection of basics and essentials that, quite honestly, J.Crew should have been making in the first place. Tees. Polos. Logo sweatshirts. Overdyed oxfords. Canvas caps. Jeans. Crewnecks. Chinos. Field shirts. Hopsack jackets. The list goes on, and on, and on. We can’t say we’re surprised that one of their former design directors and the spawn of their former CEO (co-founder Alex Drexler is the son of the notorious Micky Drexler) managed to mind-meld and make clothing better than the brand that brought them together, we’re just happy it’s finally happened.
