As a self-diagnosed Francophile, I’m no stranger to the French labels APC and Lacoste. Because of this, I was excited to see the two juggernauts in the gallic ready-to-wear space collaborate on a capsule collection this week. Playing with exaggerated themes of sportiness, while not losing any of the tres chic touches of classic French menswear, the collaboration is all retro iconography, playful denim, and classiques-a-la-mode. I’m quite partial to the patchwork polo, with a cleverly designed crocodile print and an imaginative silhouette of paneled cotton piqué. It’d perfectly pair with the Leo jeans, coming in a wide leg and stonewash Japanese denim. It’s collaborations like this that give me hope – neither brand diluted the other, but instead created a great, wearable collection that’s the best of both worlds. Prices start at $30.
