Making its debut this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the Jaguar Project 7 concept. This one-off from Jaguar, while at first glance shares similar colors to a Shelby Cobra, is actually painted to match the Jaguar D-Type that won the 24 Hours of LeMans in 1957. And the name Project 7? Well, that is how many times Jaguar was victorious at LeMans. The Project 7 is based on the new Jaguar F-Type Roadster and has room for one driver only (apparently your helmet rides shotgun). Power comes from an upgraded 5.0 liter V-8 from the F-Type that produces 542 horsepower. In addition to the commemorative colors, the Project 7’s aerodynamic package is tweaked and the whole thing sits about a third of an inch lower on 20 inch wheels. We especially like the custom fairing behind the driver’s seat. Sadly, Jaguar has no plans to make this a production model although we hear that a more aggressive F-Type is possible in the next couple of years.
