The 8 Coolest Cars of Gumball 3000 2013

coolest cars from gumball 3000-3

While most of us will find ourselves starting another week of work, approximately 100 cars will be making the 3000 mile journey from Denmark to Monaco in this year’s Gumball 3000. Marking the 15th anniversary of the Gumball 3000, those willing to pony up approximately $46,000 will begin their tour in Copenhagen and drive through Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Austria, and Italy before finishing in Monaco while enjoying world-class hotels and parties along the way. The Gumball rally plays host to some serious automotive porn. Let’s take a look at some.

Team Galag

No we are not joking. Team Galag, from Saudi Arabia, has entered two cars. #74 is a replica of Batman’s Tumbler. Spending over $1.5 million, Galag has created a street legal version, producing 420 horsepower that will reach 100 mph. We will just assume they left out all the cool weapons and jet propulsion. #73 is their very own supercar dubbed the TG1. Based on the Nissan GT-R, the TG1 features a re-tuned 3.8 liter V-6 with twin huffers putting out an estimated 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. Clad in custom bodywork provided by Parker Brothers Concepts, the TG1 is expected to do zero to 60 in about 2.7 seconds. Zero to 100 will likely come and go in about 5 and a half seconds. Link

Jon Olsson & Janni Deler, Team 10

World renowned freestyle skier, Jon Olsson, will be piloting the custom built Rebellion R2K. Looking like it belongs more in LeMans than the roads of Europe, The Rebellion was designed by Jon Olsson and Leif Tuvfesson and is based on the Ultima GT-R. Power comes from a twin turbo R8 (Audi R8 that is) V-10 and costs approximately 500,000 Euros. No other details released. Link

Piloted by British entrepreneur and Gumball founder, Max Cooper, along with rapper/girlfriend Eve, is the Morgan AeroMax. Powered by a BMW V-8, the Morgan AeroMax is the first Morgan produced since 1948 with only 100 made costing around GBP 110,000. Link

Driven by Norwegian entrepreneurs, Olav and Ove, is the CCXR from Sweden’s Koenigsegg. The 4.7 liter, twin-turbocharged aluminum V-8 puts out a ridiculous 1018 horsepower on E85 biofuel. So not only does the CCXR make almost every other car look sick, it is the world’s first green super car. Alas, performance with sustainability has a price with the CCXR costing about $1.2 million. Mention David Hasselhoff and we think a talking black Trans-Am named K.I.T.T. Ok maybe even Baywatch but definitely not his lackluster music career. All that aside, The Hoff will be driving one our personal favorites, the Audi R8 in this year’s Gumball. A consistent Gumball competitor, David bought the 2008 R8 specifically for that year’s Rally. With 420 horsepower and top speed of 187 mph, the R8 gets the job done and looks hot doing it. Approximately
$110,000. Link

Manning the oldest car for the 2013 Gumball is Team Black Bull Power and their 1967 Shelby GT 500. Fully restored to original condition, this 67 sports a 428 cubic inch Police Interceptor engine that puts out 355 horsepower through a Ford TopLoader 4 speed. Probably not the fastest entry but this GT 500 certainly has style. Link

Last but not least, is the all electric Team Karma with their Fisker Karma. Uh, no reason to spend too much time on the current controversy surrounding Fisker Automotive. Needless to say, the Scandinavian group driving this stylish 4-door are out to prove that electric and supercar can be mentioned in the same sentence. Link
