Watches are like sports cars. Since you’ll be taking your phone out of your pocket at least once every ten minutes, or sitting in front of a computer to work–hell, you may even be doing one or both of those things right now–they don’t have to be practical anymore. A Ferrari isn’t exactly equipped for grocery runs, but plenty of people still drive them because they’re fun and they make a statement. Watches should do the same. We’re not going to say that the new Ziiiro Proton and Ion watches are the supercars of the watch world because they’re not made exclusively of carbon fiber and won’t bankrupt you, but they’re just as cool. The Ion is more of a classic, understated beauty that tows the line with it’s interchangeable bracelets, but doesn’t quite cross it. The Proton, with it’s time telling gradient discs throws caution to the wind in favor of cool.
