Understated. Sleek. Quality equipment under the hood. Smooth lines. Black. Definitely descriptions of the latest BMW, but also impressions about the latest Defakto watch the Akkord. An exercise in elegant design and simple presentation, the Akkord is a 42mm (read: nowhere near ostentatious) stainless case (pvd covered in black if you’re anything like us) with fluorescent white dial markings, a sapphire crystal and a calfskin band. Along those cosmetic options, the reliable ETA 2824 movement powers the things out of sight. Those things are all great, but what we really love about this watch is everything that it isn’t. It isn’t huge. It doesn’t have 64 dials that require advanced aerospace degrees just to decipher. It isn’t made of plastic or rubber. It isn’t going to require a second mortgage to pay for. Ok, we lied. We also love the fact that it’s German and available blacked-out.
