Own a 1968 Ferves Ranger Off-Road Buggy

Originally unveiled at the 1966 Turin Motor Show, the Ferves Ranger is a uniquely Italian off-roading oddity so named because of its designer Carlo Ferrari and it’s association with FERrai VEicoli Speciali (aka Ferrari Special Vehicles). Equal parts John Deere Gator meets VW Thing, this little hauler that could combines the rear-mounted 18-hp engine and powertrain of a Fiat 500 with the independent suspension of a Fiat 600 to create an off-road capable vehicle that could traverse terrain that would have been impossible for other vehicles of the era. Pair that performance with bright yellow, open bodywork–that includes a folding windscreen and doors, along with a convertible top–and it’s easy to see why this a popular vehicle half a century ago, even if it was limited to a production run of only 600 units. This 1968 Ferves Ranger will be crossing the block during RM Sotheby’s Amelia Island auction on May 22, 2021. There is currently no estimate on the price, but given the fact an almost identical version sold for almost $200k last year this one will probably fetch in the same range.
