2021 Ram 1500 TRX

2021 Ram 1500 TRX

The Ford F-150 Raptor rally-read pickup truck has pretty much stood uncontested by other brands for a decade, and soon the blue oval will deliver its third-generation model. Ram now has something to go up against the Raptor, and it’s not messing around one bit. The Hellcat supercharged V8-powered Ram 1500 TRX is 702-horses full of off-road menace. Its output makes it the most powerful mainstream pickup truck on earth, delivering a 0-60 time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 118 (versus the Raptor’s 5.5-second sprint and 107 mph top speed). The TRX should also prove to be eminently capable on the rough stuff thanks to a new high-strength steel frame, Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks, front and rear locking differentials, a low range transfer case, Dana 60 rear axle, five skid plates, specially-made Goodyear Wrangler All Territory tires, full rock rails, and a substantial 11.8-inch ground clearance. The interior boasts a standard 12-inch portrait touchscreen with Performance Pages and Off-Road Pages stats recording, optional suede and carbon fiber, and Ram’s first integrated head-up display. And if all that’s not enough to take notice, the TRX is 8 inches wider than the standard 1500 truck and gets a special fascia, bulging fenders, TRX badging, and a mad illuminated hood scoop. The base price for this beast is $71,960, but there will be a special TRX Launch Edition that’s fully loaded and painted in a special Anvil Gray. The Raptor has officially been put on notice.
