Everything about daily life has changed in the past few months because of the pandemic. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and face masks (Here’s where you can buy face masks online if you need some) are no longer reserved for bandits and the world of fiction–they’re a fact of life now. Wearing a mask outside has made things more inconvenient and annoying, but it’s also introduced a whole new category of accessories and concepts worth checking out. Designer Fulden Dehneli has taken a unique approach to PPE with his Gado Ken concept. Gado, meaning “guard” in Japanese, combines a clear shield with a folded textile structure that allows you to have your mouth visible when you’re talking or slide the clear shield up for your eyes and use the textile as a mask. That gets paired with Ken–Japanese for “sword”–a portable hand sanitizer spray bottle you can wear as a necklace or a bracelet. If something like this was available on the market today, we wouldn’t mind wearing a mask and carrying sanitizer as much as we do now.
