Shel Silverstein’s Bay Area Houseboat Is for Sale
Whether you know Shel Silverstein because of The Giving Tree, Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic or Falling Up, it’s almost impossible to fathom that anyone reading this hasn’t been touched by his work. In addition to the myriad written works, he was a true Renaissance man that was highly regarded for his work in music, illustration, cartoons, and even plays. The same kind of quirky, charming aspect that all of his works had is present in the houseboat he lived in for a decade that’s now for sale. Originally christened “The Evil Eye” because of the appearance of the stained glass windows, the converted World War II Balloon Barge is anything but on the inside. The two floor, recently renovated houseboat has over 2,000 square feet and the two bedroom, one bath space is filled with natural light and plenty of room to work, relax and host dinner parties.
