The current COVID-19 crisis is wreaking havoc on everything, and because of it, the entire South by Southwest (SXSW) conference was cancelled. This was particularly impactful for the indie film community that uses SXSW to get their films into the world. All is not lost on the independent film front because Oscilloscope Laboratories teamed up with Mailchimp and SXSW to give all the official short film selections a “digital home” on the Support the Shorts website. That’s right, you can watch 75 different SXSW 2020 shorts that run the gamut from narrative and documentary to animated and Midnight films, for free, on the recently launched Mailchimp site for the event. If nothing else, this gives you seventy-five different reasons to stop binge-watching nonsense like ‘Tiger King’ and support the up-and-coming filmmakers that want to tell better stories.
