We’ve driven the six-cylinder Supra introduced last year, and we can honestly say it’s one of the best sports cars for the money. Fast, razor-sharp, and sonorous, it’s actually a bargain at $50K. But for some that’s still too much coin, and Toyota has the answer in the new Supra 2.0 with its turbocharged inline-four-cylinder sourced from the BMW Z4 30i. Output is 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque with a 0-60 time of 5.0 seconds, and it drops 200 pounds of weight, as well. While it does get smaller brakes than the 3.0 and drops things like adaptive suspension and power-adjustable seats, we’re guessing the four-cylinder is at least two-thirds the fun of the six. It goes on sale later this year, along with a 3.0 with 47 more horsepower and the A91 Edition with special trim bits. We’re still waiting for a manual transmission, which may come later. There’s no pricing announced, but expect the delta between the 2.0 and the 3.0 to be significant.
