Oregon Trail Is Now Available as a Handheld

Those of you of a certain age will absolutely remember the first time you got the message “You have died of dysentery.” while playing the Oregon Trail on the Apple II. Everything that’s old is new again, which is why Oregon Trail got the nostalgia treatment for this Handheld Oregon Trail Game available exclusively at Target. This authentic version of the 80’s classic includes all the aspects of the original–albeit with a much smaller screen and diminutive size–including dysentery, typhoid, river fording and the inability to carry anywhere near the amount of meat that you actually killed. Is it clearly a nostalgia-fueled price grab aimed at those of us that grew up on the original? Absolutely… but we’re still picking up a copy as soon as it’s back in stock.
