There’s absolutely no denying the fact that the Olympics are a huge deal every other year they happen. Since the early 20th century, posters created by the Olympic Organising Committees of the Olympic Games have helped promote and advertise this topically significant sporting and cultural event. This has only gotten even more significant for the Tokyo 2020 OIympic and Paralympic Games with their recently released crop of art posters. For this year’s games. official posters were designed and created by internationally renowned artists and designers with the aim of a final product that would leave a cultural and artistic legacy for the individual Olympic and Paralympic Games that each poster represents. The entire collection of artists delivered with posters and artwork that represent each of the individual games while still being appropriate for the Olympics and/or Paralympics as a whole. The committee says these posters are “icons of their age,” and while we don’t disagree, we’re much more quick to regard them as cool pieces that represent the spirit of the Olympics.
