A Collection of Bob Ross Paintings from “The Joy of Painting” Are on Display in Virginia

Bob Ross was a national treasure. Over the course of 31 seasons during the 80s and 90s, Ross would introduce people to The Joy of Painting with his PBS show of the same name. Whether you’re talking happy little trees, mountain landscapes, or colorful skies, Ross’ painted over 1,100 pieces that never really got the credit they deserved because they had never been on display in a gallery. Until now! “Happy Accidents: An Exhibit of Original Bob Ross Paintings” just opened at the Franklin Part Arts Center in Purcelville, Virginia. The collection includes two dozen different pieces that Ross painted on The Joy of Painting, and it marks the first time any of his work has been on display in a gallery setting like this. Unfortunately, the 10,000 timed tickets for the free exhibit sold out almost instantly.
