The 220-mph Genovation GXE apparently exists because the regular Corvette Grand Sport isn’t fast enough, green enough, or menacing enough. Maryland-based Genovation eschews the ‘Vette’s 460-hp LT1 V8 engine for two electric motors that provide a not unsubstantial 800 horsepower backed by five battery packs that amount to 61.6kWh which is good for 175 mph of range, just not when you hammer the throttle. The best part? It gets a 7-speed manual transmission instead of a single speed gearbox, and the result is an eye-searing top speed that may required adult diapers. Combined with a track-focused custom suspension setup, an interior coated in rich Alcantara suede, and customer-specific colorways, the GXE is the EV for those who think the Tesla S is too boring. But start elbowing your way in line because only 75 will be made at an asking price of $750,000 each.
