Vintage American muscle cars and the term eco-friendly aren’t often mentioned in the same sentence. As someone who once owned a ’66 Ford Mustang that got a cool 7 miles to the gallon, I feel I can attest to this. Aviar is a Russian upstart that wants to blend old muscle with new tech by way of the Aviar R67. One glance and you can tell this is based on a late ’60s Mustang, but looks are where the similarities end. Two electric motors and lithium-ion cells provide the juice, of which there is a lot. The company claims its R67 will go 0-60 mph in around two seconds and will be capable of hitting speeds of 155 mph. All that paired with a range of just over 300 miles makes this one of the most ludicrous vehicles on the road—if it makes it to the road. Obviously this all needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but if Aviar can pull this off we’ll empty our bank accounts to own one of these old-meets-new ponies.
