Leave it to The FJ Company to take a half-century old vehicle that’s already one of the coolest vintage SUVs out there and make it even better. The build started as a derelict FJ45LV with more rust than original paint. The client wanted a “modded-out 1960s FJ45LV” that they could take to the California Coast, “in search of the area’s best sand and surf.” Mission accomplished. The FJ Company stripped it down to the original sheet metal, repainted it in a two-tone teal and white paint scheme, and then outfitted it with all the modern features The FJ Company is known for. Toyota 1GR-FE fuel-injected 4.0L V6 outputting around 240 hp and mated to a Toyota 5-speed manual transmission. Old Man Emu suspension. 31″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain tires. Digital cluster, backup camera, custom center console, the list goes on and on. Then there’s that surfboard-ready cabin decked out in gorgeous upholstery.
