AutoAdvance Hammer

AutoAdvance Hammer

Here’s how the scenario goes. You want to hang something. You grab your hammer and handful of nails and climb the ladder you have propped near the wall. You then place one or two of those nails between your teeth, not because you love the taste of metal, but because you have nowhere convenient to keep them. You proceed to drive the first nail in and reach for the second when it falls from your mouth to the ground. Now you have a shelf or picture that will fall if you let go and the next nail you need resting a few feet out of reach. Fun! A better alternative is the AutoAdvance Hammer, a clever concept from Michael David Young, an industrial designer who’s worked on the idea for six years. The design sees the classic hammer modified to use a pack of nails made for a nail gun. Those nails are loaded and automatically advanced as one is used. The concept is currently being shopped around. If it’s picked up, it will, unfortunately, mean the end of those delicious, delicious nails.
