With cable, Netflix, and internet options, finding the best thing to watch during your downtime is difficult. Instead of flipping through menus all weekend and settling on nothing, turn to What to Watch This Weekend, a series in which we give you our pick for the best new show or movie available.
If you’re a fan of This American Life, the film Come Sunday, which premiers this weekend on Netflix, might seem familiar. That’s because the film is based on “Heretics,” an episode of the radio program from 2005, in which the Ira Glass-led show brought listeners the story of Reverend Carlton Pearson, an evangelical pastor in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who did away with the idea of hell. As you can imagine, such an idea was not met with careful consideration. Come Sunday brings the radio drama to the screen, with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martin Sheen, and Danny Glover leading the way. The next This American Life episode that deserves the Netflix treatment? “Cars.” At least in our opinion. Link
