Uber Is Working on Flying Cars

Well it’s about damn time. We’ve been promised flying cars since sci-fi films began making bold predictions about the year 2000. Well, George Jetson, that future may soon be a reality. Uber just shared a white paper for Uber Elevate, an on-demand service that will let people rent flying “cars.” It should be noted, however, that these cars look an awful lot like helicopters, but we won’t be picky. The aircrafts would take off and land vertically and help ease the pain of traffic and long commutes. Uber is working with NASA on the logistics, having signed a Space Act Agreement that is meant to tackle the air traffic system for these flying cars, which will obviously be one of the largest hurdles. While Uber Elevate was first unveiled last year, this announcement presents significant steps towards its realization, including a target date of the year 2020. Next up: food in pill form.
