There are very few situations when it’s appropriate for a man to wear sandals. Every situation that calls for a pair of sandals can easily be handled with your favorite pair of low top canvas sneakers. Just about everything in the Vans and Converse line will work out of the box, but they’re not a vintage pair of Jordans–they’ll look even better once you beat the crap out of them. You could wear them in the salt water at the beach. You could wash them. You could bleach them. In fact, everything you’re not supposed to do to your selvedge denim you can do to your canvas sneakers, and they’ll look better for it. Or you could just pick up a pair of these new Converse Jack Purcell salt washed stripes in red or blue and immediately get down to the business of being outside.
