What to Drink This Weekend: The M&M Cocktail

What to Drink This Weekend: The M&M Cocktail

Looking for a new cocktail to try out this weekend? Want to wind down with a fresh new drink? We’ve got you covered. Here’s what you should drink this weekend.

I’m a sucker for simple cocktails. Sure, I love homemade syrups and bitters and the satisfaction of nailing a complex recipe. But, after a long week, I want to throw together three ingredients (at most) and sip on something refreshing. So, when I came across the M&M, I was sold. This autumn-appropriate cocktail combines the smokey complexity of mezcal and the bittersweet herbaceousness of Amaro Montenegro in a crisp, delicious drink.

The best part? Amaro Montenegro is actually selling pre-packaged kits so you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your couch to stock up. But, if you’d prefer to freestyle, go hit up your local liquor store. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Amaro Montenegro (or any amaro that leans a little on the sweet side – although you wouldn’t get the “Montenegro” in the M&M.)
  • Mezcal (I’ve got Ojo de Tigre but any mezcal will do)
  • Oranges

The drink itself is incredibly simple. Pour equal parts Montenegro and Mezcal (I’d go for 1.5 oz of each) over ice in a rocks glass, stir, and garnish with an orange slice (or an orange peel – whatever you’re feeling). Sit back and enjoy!
