If you only hover around the premium watch brands, perhaps you didn’t know the Seiko brand also plays in that realm. Now, they’ve reissued their 1968 Prospex Automatic Diver model SLA025J1 for the modern age. Its black/white/gold colorway is iconic and very legible. The limited-edition diver has all the goods including their 8L55 37-jewel calibre mechanical automatic movement with a 55-hour power reserve. The 44.5mm case has a hardened coating over the 316L stainless steel, and the Seiko Lumibrite will provide superior visibility down to its 300-meter depth rating. The included black silicone band is dive-ready and uniquely textured. Only 1,500 will be made at a price of $5,400. Lest you think Seiko is an inferior brand, just ask any horophile how long these suckers last and how well they’re built. This one will probably last long enough to see the next reissue.
